Website becomes independently profitable within 1 year of commencement of services.

A major magazine created an online presence, which was originally little more than a duplicate of the magazine’s current content. The President of the website desired to create a revenue stream from this website, and we were contacted to help make this happen.

The magazine already had a large and dedicated readership, so we did not need to promote brand awareness. Instead, we focused with the website’s President on converting that awareness to sales.

Various forms of merchandise were offered through the website, and they sold well. Customer lists were created from the order history, and existing customers were sent emails promoting special offers so they could come back to the site.

Ongoing customer relationships were built, a community formed around weekly contests, and group feedback was solicited for what the magazine would publish. It was modern-day community building and information marketing on the web, ten years ahead of its time.

This website became profitable during the year 2000, at the height of the original dot com boom, when unprofitable websites were IPO’ing for billions of dollars. This client’s website increased its profitability several years in a row – including during the dot com bust.
